Sylvia Catherine Matheson
Sylvia Catherine Matheson, 77, of Trout Brook, Mira, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late John and Ida (Brown) MacDonald.
Sylvia and Marven moved to Fort McMurray in 1978, and retired back to Sydney in 1993, to their home on the Mira. Sylvia worked at Fabricville in Sydney until a few years ago but remained close to the staff as she was an avid quilter.
She is survived by her daughters, Glenna (Ron) Green, Fort McMurray, Debbie Matheson, Sydney, brother, George (Joanne), Glace Bay, granddaughters, Heather (Adam), Erin, great-granddaughter, Ryley Gardiner.
She was predeceased by her husband, Marven in 2008, after 46 years of marriage, and a brother, John.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2019, in Sydney Memorial Chapel from 4-7p.m. Funeral service will take place Wednesday in the Chapel at 2 p.m. with Rev. Lydia MacKinnon officiating. Interment in Lockend Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Palliative Care, or the Cancer Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
