Born In: Bridgeport, Nova Scotia, Canada
Born: May 20th, 1915

Passed in: SYDNEY, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: June 2nd, 2011

The late Catherine Chisholm passed away peacefully on the morning of June 2, 2011, at the Highland Manor Nursing Home, Neils Harbour, N.S.
Born in Bridgeport, N.S., she was the daughter of the late James and Minnie (McCormack) MacNeil.
She was predeceased by her husband, Allan Joseph Chisholm.
Kaye is survived by her daughters, Annette (David F. Alexander), Saint John, N.B., and Diane (Hugh Savoy), Sydney; brother, Stanley MacNeil, Ontario; two grandchildren, Brock and Ariane Alexander and one great-grandchild, Olivia.
Kaye was one of only two girls in a family of 14 and was predeceased by four brothers who died in infancy, Adrian, James, John, and Joseph. She was also predeceased by brothers, Andrew, Charles ‘Chas’, Alphonseus ‘Phonse,’ Michael, Peter, Gregory and Ignatius and her only sister, Mae Power.
Kaye moved to Ontario with Mae during the Second World War and worked in a munitions plant as her part in the war effort. She subsequently married Allan Joseph Chisholm of Judique, Inverness County, and lived with him in Sydney’s north end until his death in 1990.
Kaye had many hardships to overcome, especially the death of her mother when Kaye was seven and the family was for the most part separated, the sudden death of her husband Allan Joe, her battle with cancer, the care of her sister who had Alzheimer’s disease and her own later struggle with the same affliction. Throughout it all Kaye maintained her faith and her humour.
A devout member of Sacred Heart parish for over 50 years, Kaye will be remembered for the way she always put other people first as well as for her impish sense of fun and her pride in family and home.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff of the Highland Manor Nursing Home for the solicitude and kindness with which they treated Kay over a six-year period.
Visitation will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Saturday, June 4, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a private family funeral service to be scheduled at a later date.
Donations in Kaye’s memory may be made to the Highland Manor Nursing Home.
