John Anthony Beaton

It is with great sadness we, regret to, announce the passing of John (Jack) Anthony Beaton, age 65, on March 28, 2019, in the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in New Waterford he was the son of the late James and Vincetine (MacEachern) Beaton.
Jack was a coal miner for 23 years and served as a board member of the UMWA. He was a passionate union man who believed in advocating for his union brothers. After the closing of the mines, he returned to pipefitting and was a member of US Local 682. He was the fella who brought a little bit of joy to the worksite because you could hear him laughing before you saw him coming. He sometimes worked in the tool crib and not only would he hand out tools, but you could get some life advice, a good joke, or even a song. He always had a way to make your day better. Jack was best known for his love of music, he shared his musical talents in many forms from guitar jams, church choirs and his most favorite, singing with The Men of the Deeps. He enjoyed fishing, camping in his van and time with his family. He was a devoted Catholic and played an active role within Saint Leonard’s Parish. He was a gentle and loving man who gave willingly to anyone in their time of need. “Give til it hurts, then give some more’
