April 5, 1941-April 5, 2019. Robert "Bob" Youngson Cruickshank, age 78, of Mount Denson, Hants County, passed away on his birthday, Friday, April 5, 2019, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, after a brief, but courageous battle with Leukemia. Bob was born in Newmachar, Scotland on April 5, 1941 and was the eighth, of 12 children to Margaret and John Cruickshank. In 1957 at the age of 16, he, his parents and five siblings immigrated to Canada. Bob started his career at Marshall Motors, Kentville and later worked for Pothier Motors, Falmouth, before moving his family to Mt. Denson, where he owned and operated Cruickshank’s Garage. He was a master mechanic and specialized in Volkswagens. Bob worked and he played hard. Over the years he had many hobbies, from riding his motorcycle, working in the wood pile or fishing on the Avon River, and one of his favorite by times was having a drink with his Buddies. Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years June (Banks); his children, Bobby (Brenda) Cruickshank; Kim (Peter) Moore; Jeff Cruickshank; Donnie (Melissa) Cruickshank; grandchildren, William and Clinton Cruickshank; Matthew Moore; Savannah and Daykota Cruickshank and their mother Tracy); Justin Cruickshank; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Sandy, Neil, Kenny and Allan Cruickshank; sisters, Ethel MacIntosh; Connie Smart and Norma Jones; also family friend Pete Ryan and special nephew Colin Murdock of Scotland. Beside his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Jack and George Cruickshank; sisters, Nel Ewen and Hazel Murdock; also an infant daughter and an infant grandchild. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Monday, April 8, and a celebration of life and reception was held 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, with remembrances at 3 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date.
