PATRIQUIN, Erma Laura – 91, New Glasgow, formerly of Londonderry, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born November 1, 1919, in Londonderry, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Ina (Mattatall) Williams. Erma was a lifelong resident of Londonderry and was a member of Acadia United Church, where she sang in the choir and was part of the Ladies Aid Group. She was a former member of Order of the Eastern Star, Myrtle Chapter No. 21 and was past president of Acadia Rebekah Lodge No. 15. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, gardening, sewing and quilting with her husband, Seldon. Her family will cherish the many fine quilts they have been given over the years. Erma loved her family and truly cherished time spent together at all family occasions for which she loved to bake, cook and entertain. Erma is survived by her daughter, Diane (Stewart) Harris, Calgary, Alberta; sons, Sheldon, New Glasgow; James “Jim” (Sandra), Steady Brook, Newfoundland; Rod (Lindsay), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Jennifer (Robert) vanHartingsveldt, Julie (Blair) Nickerson, Jason (Melissa “Missy”), Ashley Harris, Heather Patriquin, Laura Patriquin; great grandchildren, India and Sawyer vanHartlingsveldt, Sophie and Mason Patriquin; brother, Arnold (Dorothy) Williams, Green Hill; sister-in-law and very special friend, Helen Abbott, Bass River. Along with her parents, Erma was predeceased by her husband, Seldon Rhodes Patriquin; daughter-in-law, Shirley Patriquin; sisters, Geraldine Chisholm, Avis Canning, Lalia “Dade” Lawson, Blanche and Inez Mae in infancy; brothers, Vernon and John Williams. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Erma’s family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2011, and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, June 11, 2011. Reception will follow. Interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Londonderry. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Erma’s memory to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Multiple Sclerosis Society are welcomed.
