SAULNIER, Eric Leon – age 76, Melbourne, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2019 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital with his family at his side. Born July 19, 1942 in Pinkney’s Point, he was a son of the late Jeremie and Evangeline (DeViller) Saulnier. He began his career as a fisherman then became the owner/manager of Hervic Enterprises Ltd. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (former Council 6505, Wedgeport) and he enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, golfing, playing cards (especially cribbage and poker) and he enjoyed spending time at his camp in Forest Glen. A very sociable man who made many friends and acquaintances over the years, he was a well-known, respected and admired man! He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lillian M. (Boudreau) Saulnier, as well as by their children, Roddy Saulnier, Dean (Kim) Saulnier, Della (Randy) Boudreau, Stephen (Debbie) Saulnier, all of Melbourne; Owen (Lisa) Saulnier, Arcadia and Jeanine (Trent) Crowell, Yarmouth, as well as by 11 grandsons, six granddaughters; one great grandson and one great granddaughter. Also surviving are brothers, Herman (Rosella), Carroll (Catherine) and Ivan (Agnes), all of Pinkney’s Point. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by an infant daughter, Colleen, as well as by a sister, Rosalind Saulnier. Visitation took place from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, 10:30 – 12:30 Wednesday, with prayers at 7 p.m. Tuesday at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. A funeral Mass was held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 17 from Saint Ambrose Co-Cathedral, Yarmouth, Father Henry Smolenaars officiated. Interment followed in Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Cemetery, Melbourne. Flowers were welcome. Donations in Eric’s memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation.
