Blanche Alward
ALWARD, BLANCHE EDITH - 1922 - 2011 - Blanche Edith Alward of Monarch Hall, Riverview and formerly of Moncton, peacefully passed away at Moncton City Hospital on Saturday, June 4, 2011 following a lengthy illness. Born in Wheaton Settlement on April 18th, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Viola McMackin. Blanche was a retired School Teacher who taught for thirty-five years, the last thirty of which were at Sunny Brae School. Proud to be an Educator, she enjoyed sharing her love and kindness with younger children. Blanche was a member of Mountain View United Church, the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion, Salisbury Branch #31, an Honorary Member of the N.B. Teachers Federation and the Retired Teachers Association, Lions Senior Citizens Club and War Vets. In 2001, Blanche was pre-deceased by her husband and loving partner, Nison Alward. She will be sadly missed by her son Harold (Dianne), Saint John and her daughter Carolyn (Thompson), Toronto. Blanche was so proud of her four grandchildren, Michael and Richard (Shelly) Alward of Saint John, Scott (Shelley) Farrell, Lower Coverdale and Sally Farrell, Toronto together with two special great grandchildren, Brittany and Caitlyn Alward, Saint John, as well as several nieces and nephews. Blanche will be lovingly remembered by her Sister, Irene (Elwyn) Lounsbury, Petitcodiac and was pre-deceased by two brothers, Edwin and Bliss.
Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 with visiting hours from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 2:30 pm at Fair Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mary Anningson officiating. Interment to follow at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Reception will follow in the Garden View Reception Room of Fair Haven Funeral Home. At the request of the family, memorial donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
