John Parkin
PARKIN, JOHN K. - John K. Parkin, 88, of Lakeview Manor, Riverview and formerly of Morton Ave. and Cameron Arms, Moncton, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, June 5, 2011. Born in London, England, he was the son of the late George and Olive (Budd) Parkin. John was retired from Canada Post, Moncton with 22 years service and also retired from T. Eaton Co. Ltd. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Church, former choir member, former Sunday school teacher, former member of the church board and the men’s club. He was a member of F.S.N.A. and was a veteran of the Second World War having served five years with the Royal Air Force. John enjoyed playing and watching soccer, walking, bicycling, singing and socializing with his family and friends.John will be sadly missed by his wife of over 62 years, Ella (Scott) Parkin; his daughters, Millis Hachey (Bruce Spurrell) of Moncton and Kathy Dunstan of Bridgewater, NS; precious granddaughters, Rachel McLean (Jason) of Moncton, Lisa Hachey (Eric Richardson) and Erica MacDonald (Craig) both of Miramichi; cherished great grandchildren, Courtney, Connor and William; brother, Maurice of England; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, George and sister, Mae.
No visitation hours by personal request. Funeral Service at Wesley Memorial United Church on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 11:00am with Rev. Dr. Philip Griffin-Allwood officiating. Reception in the church hall following the service. Interment, Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) in care of arrangements.
