KENNEDY, Charles Alexander- With fond memories and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Charles Kennedy, on August 24, 2009 in Swift Current, at the age of 80 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his dear wife of 53 years, Maria; his sons, Ken (Candace) Kennedy of Red Deer, AB, Dan (Karen) Kennedy and children, Travis and Chelsea of Hodgeville, SK; his daughters, Charlene Fafard (special friend, Renaud Bissonnette) and children, Douglas and Lisa of Willow Bunch, SK, Carol (Allan) Culp of Havre, MT, Betty (Todd) Wright and daughter, Montana of Medicine Hat, AB, and Amy Kennedy of Medicine Hat, AB. Also left to mourn is one sister, Grace Chapman of Bogota, Colombia; two brothers, Jack (Mary) Kennedy of Moose Jaw, SK and Sam (Bev) Kennedy of Moose Jaw, SK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, John & Elizabeth Kennedy; a brother, Jim Kennedy; sisters, Eleanor Aslin and Pearl Kennedy; and by a son-in-law, Gerald Fafard. Charles was born on September 17, 1928 in Gravelbourg, SK. He married Maria Neufeld on June 5, 1956 at St. Boswell’s United Church. Charles was a life-time farmer in the Hodgeville district area, and in 1993 retired to Swift Current, SK. In October 1995, Charles suffered a life-changing stroke, and eventually spent his last three years at the Palliser Regional Care Centre. Charles will be remembered for the pride and joy he had for his family, his love for farming, and his avid enthusiasm for a wide variety of sports. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, August 28, 2009 at 11:00 am from the Bridgeway Community Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Cliff Janzen officiating. The musician for the service was Sheila Braun. “How Great Thou Artâ€, “Amazing Graceâ€, “Blessed Assurance†and “Safe in the Arms of Jesus†were sung by the congregation under the direction of Leona Braun. The life history and tribute was shared by Dan Kennedy followed by a PowerPoint tribute. The ushers for the service were Edith Janzen, Lucille Wall, Ed Froese and Jake Braun. The Interment was held at the Rosedale Cemetery, Moose Jaw, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Robert Kennedy, Larry Kennedy, Bill Chapman, Dale Pouteaux, Allan Culp and Todd Wright. In memory of Charles Kennedy, donations made to the Palliser Regional Care Centre Activity Fund would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK.
