MARI BIZLEY
Feb. 20, 1921 – Aug. 25, 2009
A place of honour has been earned for Mari Bizley on the other side of the veil. Where there is sadness for those of us who loved her here, there is great celebration and rejoicing among the spirits. We who knew and loved her know we were blessed to have her in our lives. She was an indomitable spirit, a true survivor and admirable woman whose quiet, friendly, reserved presentation disguised the incredible strength, resiliency and humor with which she faced the tremendous challenges of this incarnation. She will be sorely missed and remembered with great affection and respect. We are comforted by the knowledge that she is now in the loving arms of her parents, Charles and Louisa, her daughter, Angela and countless other dear ones. Mari was born in Rainham, Kent, England on February 21, 1921, she came to Canada as a war bride in 1945 and brought five daughters into the world. Although a gifted artist, philosopher, and psychologist, she lacked both opportunity and formal education so supported herself and her children with the sweat of her labour, often holding down several physically demanding jobs at a time to put food on the table. In later life, still more hardships came her way; among them her battle with lung cancer in 1991 and the loss of her much loved eldest daughter, Angela to cancer in 1996. She is survived by daughters Margaret Galloway, Kathleen Bizley, Linda-Jane (Dale) Hamill, Elizabeth (Cecil) Beckhusen, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and loving relatives in England. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel, Moose Jaw. Laurie Van De Wiele will officiate. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be directed to Providence Place. In living memory of Mari, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
