The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Saturday, June 4, 2011, of Mrs. Florence Audrey (nee Doucette) Rooney of Stratford, in her 69th year.
Beloved wife of Eugene Rooney and dear mother of Elaine (Bob) Snazelle, Bill (Paula), Tammy (Art) Burke, Pam (Dellar) Duckworth, Wade (Pam), Shane and Amanda Rooney and Billy Mitchell. Florence is also fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Cynthia Barton, Shawn Rooney, Amy MacAusland, Brad and Brandon Burke, Emily Duckworth, Ciara and Tamara Horton, Ashlyn and Chantelle Rooney and one great-grandson Keenan Barton; brothers and sisters, Carl Doucette (Charlene), Linda (Steve) MacAusland, Valerie Blacquiere, Robert Doucette, Judy (Everett) Richard, Marlene MacGregor and many in-laws.
Florence was predeceased by her children Viola Marie and Cindy Ann, her parents, Benjamin and Alberta (nee Gauthier) Doucette and brother, George "Teddy Bear".
Resting at the Hennessey Funeral home until 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, then transferred to Our Lady of Assumption Church, Stratford, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in the family plot at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown.
If so desired, memorials in Florence’s memory may be made to the CNIB, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.
