Mr. Robert Donald Evans of Cornwall passed away quietly on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at South Shore Villa in Crapaud. He was in his 85th year.
He was the loving husband of Jean Anna Evans (nee Cornfoot); dear father of Heather and David Evans of P.E.I. and Aileen Ware of Ottawa; and grandfather of Arthur, John, Wilbert, Alison, Elizabeth and Samantha.
He was predeceased by his father and mother, George H. and Mary Ann Evans and his sister, Christina M. Evans.
He is survived by his brother, L. Campbell Evans, Ottawa.
He was a member of many fraternal organizations both here and in Ottawa, namely St. John’s Lodge No. 1, Alexander Chapter No. 11 and Garden of the Gulf Council No. 9, of Charlottetown. Also Chaudiere Lodge No. 264, Ottawa Lodge of Perfection A.A.S.R., Murray Chapter Rose Croix and Tunis Temple No. 179 of Ottawa as well as Capitol City Chapter No. 172 OES, Ottawa.
He was employed with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs until his retirement in 1988.
Cremation will be handled by the Belvedere Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Pinecrest Cemetery, Ottawa. A memorial service will be held at that time.
