1939 – 2019 “My soul is fed with needle and thread.” At the end of a long, well lived life, the death occurred peacefully with her family by her side at l’Enfant-Jésus Hospital, Caraquet, NB on Monday, May 6, 2019 of Janine Paulette Landry (nee Deflandre), aged 79, best friend and cherished wife of 62 years to Jean Paul “Joe” Landry of Bertrand N.B, formerly of Miscouche, PEI. Born on November 24th, 1939, in Orange, France, she was the youngest and much-loved daughter of late Paul and Jeanne (nee Matejicek) Deflandre. Devoted mother of Alain Landry (Mireille Arseneau), Bertrand N.B; Claude Landry (Claudette Maillet), Moncton, N.B; Diane Landry (Robert Rankel), Summerside, PE; Caroline Landry (Maurice Gaudet), Ottawa, ON; Nathalie Landry, Charlottetown, PE and son-in law Micheal Gallant, Summerside. Doting “Mémé” of Krista Lee Landry (Ryan Donnelly), Irishtown, NB; Daniel Landry, Bertrand, NB; Vanessa Gallant, Summerside, PE and J.P. “Jack” Gaudet, Ottawa, ON. Proud great-grandmother of Ava, Emily and Daniel Donnelly, Irishtown, NB. Janine is survived by brother Rene Deflandre (Denise), France, brother-in-law Louis Sutter, France, sister-in-law Jacqueline Chamberlain, Bertrand, NB and brother-in-law Gerard Landry, Bertrand, NB. Predeceased by her precious grandson, Denis Landry, sisters Paulette Gapik and Gisele Sutter and by brothers and sisters-in law Casi Gapik, Theophile Chamberlain, Edith Landry, Albanie and Anita Landry; Gilles and Lucienne Landry and by nephews Michel Landry and Daniel Gapik. Resting at the Racicot Funeral Home – Salon de Bertrand (650 Boulevard des Acadiens, Bertrand, NB) then to the Saint-Joachim Church, Bertrand, NB for funeral service at 11:15am on Friday, May 10th. Interment to follow at the Saint-Joachim Church Cemetery, Bertrand. Visiting hours Thursday, May 9th 7pm to 9pm. There will be no visiting period on the day of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Somerset Manor Equipment Fund (https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/summerset-manor-memorial-equipment-fund/) or the SPCA Péninsule acadienne (www.spca-pa.ca) would be appreciated.
