HALEY, Timothy Curtis – of Springhaven, Yarmouth. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Timothy Curtis Haley at Yarmouth Regional Hospital on May 22, 2011 at the age of 44 after a courageous battle with cancer. Timmy was born in Yarmouth, July 20, 1966, the son of Wm. Curtis and Sandra Haley. Timmy was a hard worker and he started at a very young age working with his grandfather Bill Haley in the beef business. Timmy was a past member of the 84th Independent Field Battery and was a graduate of the Nova Scotia Community College where he obtained his certification as a Marine Fitter. Following graduation he worked for H.V. Anthony, Tidewater Construction and then with Cheboque Fisheries Limited until his recent illness. While with Chebogue Fisheries Limited he obtained his Class I Truck License and his Refrigeration Ticket of which he was very proud. Timmy’s life was blessed. On February 12, 1991 Timmy was the recipient of the greatest gift one can receive – a heart. Prior to his surgery, Timmy participated in the SOLVD Heart Study of which Timmy was the youngest participant of the 7000 individuals who were involved. He was the 18th heart transplant performed at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax. Timmy was grateful to his donor and was delighted when he found that he could donate the valves from his original heart on to someone else. Timmy turned this precious gift into a passion for living and his greatest legacy is his son Jake. Timmy loved the outdoors and his greatest joy was being able to travel, especially his trip to Newfoundland. He loved hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling and camping. Timmy was easy going and loved life. He always had a kind word and was always ready to lend a hand anywhere he was needed. He always had that shy little grin and one never knew quite what he was thinking. Timmy had a wonderful sense of humor and this served him well through his illnesses. He will be sorrowfully missed by his loving son Jacob Timothy; best friend and fiancée Karen Atwood Surette and her son Zachary; sister, Crystal Haley, Devon, Alberta; brothers, Andrew Haley, Yarmouth and Neal (Amanda) Haley, Argyle; four nieces, three nephews; and grandmother, Evelyn Ashe, Dartmouth. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Lloyd Frederick Ashe, paternal grandparents William and Phyllis (Rodgerson) Haley and Aunt Marsha Haley. Cremation has take place under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home and the family will receive visitors Friday, June 17 – 7pm – 9pm and a celebration of Timmy’s life will take place on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 2pm both held at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 567 Main Street, Yarmouth, NS. Reverend Bill Newell officiating. Interment will be in Chebogue Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only. If you wish, donations in Timmy’s memory may be made to the VON or the Chebogue Cemetery c/o Brian Duncan, RR #2, Chebogue Point, Yarmouth, NS B5A 4A6. On-line condolences may be sent to: sweenysfh@eastlink.ca or you may sign the guestbook on-line at: www.sweenysfuneralhome.net God saw you getting tired, And a cure was not to be; So he put his arms around you, And whispered, “Come to Me’. With tearful eyes we watched him suffer, And saw him fade away; Although we loved him dearly, We could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating; Hard working hands put to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
