TREFRY, Keith David – 85, of Yarmouth, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Born June 1, 1925 in Chegoggin, Yarmouth Co., he was a son of the late Murray and Irene (Pinckney) Trefry. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Ruth Anna (King). Keith was a lifelong farmer and was especially well-known for his Belgian horses, Ayrshire cows and Belted Galloway “Oreo” cows. He was a long-time exhibitor and supporter of the Yarmouth County Exhibition. He always enjoyed a game of 45’s and enjoyed it even more when he was winning. His generosity and strong work ethic had a large impact on many. Dad’s sense of humor was unique and will forever live on through his children. His distinct whistle perked up the ears on all his animals and his kids alike. He was always ready with a peppermint for everyone. His greatest pride was his family. He will be dearly missed by sons, David (Janet) and Bob (Nancy); daughters, Linda (David) Haines, Betty James, Lillian (Fraser) MacIsaac and Nancy (Mike) Winchester; grandchildren, Tim, Twila, Sarah, Greg, Bryan, Jenny, Matthew, Mikael, Heidi, Mandi, Josh, Ian, Corey, Harold, Nick, Kate, Andrew and Luke; as well as 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillian Hopkins and Doris Cossaboom; brother, Charles. He was predeceased by brothers, Allen and Ross. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Friday, June 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held Saturday, June 4 at 2 p.m. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell and Pastor Keith Moore officiated. Interment followed in Town Point Cemetery. Family flowers only, please. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, IWK Health Centre or to a charity of your choice.
