We the family of Gordon Karpinka are sad to announce his sudden passing to all of his family and friends. Gord passed away on June 1, 2011 at home with his wife by his side. Gordon was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on January 21, 1953. He moved to Moose Jaw at the age of eighteen where he began working as a Laboratory Technologist. Having a thirst for knowledge, Gord returned to University to study Administration. After graduation, he pursued his dream of Hospital Administration in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan in 1984. In 2001 Gord took on a new career moving to Dauphin, Manitoba accepting the position of Executive director of St. Paul’s Care Home. He retired in January, 2011. Gordon always worked passionately and selflessly but loved his family more than anything else. He was an avid Saskatchewan Roughriders enthusiast and a Detroit Red Wings fan. Gord is survived by his wife of 35 years Brenda; daughters Sonia (Rob) Cook and Shila (Jason) Roden; son Scott (Courtenay) Karpinka; as well as loving grandchildren Savannah, Ethan, Julia, Tyler, Liam and Griffin; mother Olga Karpinka, brothers Garry (Judy), Geoff (Sam), and Glen; mother-in-law Marjorie Rayner; along with many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great- nephews. Gord was predeceased by his father Orville Karpinka, and father-in-law Orval Rayner. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. from the Legion Hall in Moose Jaw.
