Mary Evangeline (Bernie) Bernard

Mary Evangeline (Bernie) Bernard (nee Bernard), aged 92 years, born in St. Paul, N.B., on Oct. 8, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Alma nee Bastarache Bernard.
Peacefully, surrounded by her loving children on Monday, June 6, 2011, at the palliative care unit of the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital in Moncton, N.B.
Wife of the late (2002) Mark Elphege (Lefty) Bernard of Cascumpec. Lovingly remembered by her children: Zoé (Dave Bullen), Shediac Cape, N.B.; Jean Rancourt, Gloucester, Ont.; Mark (Donna), Dartmouth, N.S.; Jackie (Roy) Logan, Dartmouth, N.S.; Jo-Anne (Steve) Moore, Chicago, IL; Trish (Alan MacDonald), Cape Traverse, P.E.I.; Mary-Lynn (Andy Jones), St John’s, NL; and Danny (Donna), Cumberland, P.E.I. She is survived by her brother Emile Bernard of Weatherfield, Conn. Also remembered by her sisters-in-law Norma Coleman of Ottawa, Ont., Gloria Pungarcher of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and brother-in-law Henry O’Lander of Connecticut. Predeceased by her brother John and sisters Catherine, Bella, Dora, Edie, Anita and Florence. She also leaves 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Loving wife, mother, care-giver and life-long learner.

Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton.Visiting hours Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral on Wednesday morning from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Simon and St. Jude Organ Restoration Fund or the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital in Moncton, N.B.
