Hazel Sherwood
We, her family, regret to announce the passing of our mother, Hazel Sherwood on April 10, 2019, at the MacGillivray Guest Home, Sydney, formerly from Grandview Street, Sydney.
Born July 24, 1924, in Glace Bay, to the late Thomas and Mabel (Bond) McCormick.
Hazel was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was an ardent member of Christ Church.
Mom is survived by her sons, Roy (Pat) Sherwood, East Jeddore and Bill (Debbie) Sherwood, Sydney; daughters, Nancy (Jim) Muise, Lanark Highlands, ON, Gerry (the late Don) Lutz, St. John, NL, Joan (Ray) Johnston, Sydney, Phyllis (Jim) LeBlanc, Dartmouth and Gail (Gary) Thomas, Brighton, ON. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Rose McCormick and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her husband, our Dad, Joseph Sherwood. The last surviving member of her family, Hazel was predeceased by her sisters, Cleo Ralph and Mary Alice McCormick and brothers, Almer, Jack, Paul and Roy McCormick.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request.
A funeral service will be held at the Church of Christ the King, George St. on Wednesday, June 12 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating. Reception to follow.
