Passed peacefully away, Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at the age of 72, following a long but courageous battle with cancer, at Dr. Walter Templeman Health Care Centre on Bell Island, a place she loved and worked for 30 years. Predeceased by her parents Gordon and Alfreda, and her husband, Wilson. Left with loving memories, her devoted partner, Brian Burke, three children, Sharon (Mike), Dale (Mary) and David (Roxanne), six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two sisters, Norma (Wallace) Vokey, Phyllis Brisee and a brother Barry (Eileen) Parsons, and special friends, Eileen Sweeney, Lucina Murphy and Louise Normore, as well as a large circle of family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Visitation for family and friends at Pendergast Funeral Home, Bell Island on Friday, June 10 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service on Saturday, June 11 at 2 p.m. from the United Church. Interment at St. Cyprian’s cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center or a charity of your choice in Doris’ name.
