It is with great sadness and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother and grandmother, after losing her courageous, lengthy battle with cancer on June 7, 2011.
She was born June 24, 1942, in Miller’s Passage, Nfld., to the late George and Olive (Stone) Lawrence.
She is survived and loved with all our hearts by her husband of 46 years, Alex Storm, Louisbourg; her daughter, Phyllis B., Parrsboro; son, Edward C. (Kate Gillis), Bedford; son, Jason (Chantal Ouellette), Orleans, and sons, Morgan, Louisbourg and Julian R. (Sandra Holloway), Dominion.
Emily was a proud grandmother to Chloe, Mylene, Madison and step-grandson, Nicholas.
She loved her family and friends immensely, was noted for her culinary skill and enjoyed reading, politics and the ancient craft of bobbin lace making, teaching this craft to many, including costumed staff of Fortress Louisbourg. She will be missed by all.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Phillip G. Lawrence (September 2006), (Judy).
Her surviving siblings are sister, Alice Balcom (John), Newcombville and brother, Jonathan Lawrence (Cathy) Louisbourg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Emily attended the Empire Business College, Sydney. In her early career she worked for the Workman’s Compensation Board and later she worked as a private secretary at Fortress Louisbourg. A dedicated hard worker she also co-owned and operated The Atlantic Statiquarium, Marine Museum in Louisbourg.
Visitation for Emily will take place Friday June 10, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday June 11, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home 564 Alexandra St. Sydney. Burial to follow in the St. Bartholomew’s Church Cemetery, Louisbourg.
