STEWART, Cecil Allen, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at the age of 83, after a long battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, Tillie and Chalmer Stewart; brother, Keith Stewart; step-daughter, Sharon Foster; and by his first wife, Rose Stewart in 1992, after 43 years of marriage. In 1993 Cecil married Eileen Stewart (nee Foster). Cecil is also survived by his children: daughter Betty Jane Magee (Garry) and three sons: Michael Stewart (Geri), Garth Stewart (Caroline), Duane Stewart (Norine); eight grandchildren: Andrew, Lexie, Cameron, Graham, Dallas, Levi, Judah and Chevy, as well as his step-children: John, Gary, Lynn and Brian; also a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Cecil was born on the farm in Cabri, Saskatchewan, grew up there and farmed for years. At the age of 36 he moved to Swift Current, SK and started, along with a friend Willard Nelson, a construction firm, carpet store and Real-Estate firm. In 1979 he sold the business and moved to Saskatoon for four years, then retired to Kelowna, BC. Cecil was active in the Alliance Churches in Swift Current, Saskatoon and Kelowna. He was also active in curling and golf, until cancer got the best of him. There was an opportunity to pay your last respects on Saturday, September 5th at 2:00 pm at the Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road. A celebration of Cecil’s life was held on Monday, September 7, 2009 at 1:00 pm at the Mission Creek Alliance Church, 2091 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan, c/o #216-1329 K.L.O.
