PADDOCK, Charles Patrick – age 70, Yarmouth, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2019 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born January 10, 1949 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late George and Marion (Smith) Paddock. Charles began working as a paralegal to Irving Pink in Yarmouth. Having a keen interest in affordable housing and community, Charles was instrumental in the founding of the co-operative housing movement in Yarmouth. Charles was also a politician having run in two elections for two different political parties. Charles accepted a position at Université Ste. Anne’s Housing Society in Yarmouth, where he served as Executive Director for a number of years. He also served as Director for the Yarmouth Renewal Boys Club at the Hubert Brush Centre. He was a great lover of music and had an extensive collection of vinyl records, cassettes, compact discs and digital library. Charles was also the author of the column The Vinyl Spin. Charles is survived by his wife, Minnie Paddock, as well as by a daughter, Vanessa Benoit; a son-in-law, Terry Benoit, and a son, David McCall, along with two grandchildren, Ryan and Justin McCall. A visitation was held on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, where a funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 29, after which cremation took place. No flowers by request; memorial donations may be made to the Gilles Boudreau and Friends Cancer Help Fund.
