Mary Blocka (nee Bidulka) passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2009 surrounded by her children. Mary was born in the Petrofka area of Saskatchewan on August 4, 1911 and lived most of her life in the Rosthern area, moving to Prince Albert in 1963. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Steve, in 1999. She was also predeceased by her parents, one sister and three brothers. Baba is survived by her children Molly Cowie, Pat (Jim) Ochitwa, and Terry (Margaret) Blocka; grandchildren Lee Cowie, Jan Cowie (Malcolm French), Wade Cowie, Mark (Maria) Ochitwa, Rob (Carrie) Ochitwa and Karla & Andrew Blocka; great-grandchildren Chrissy & Greg Ochitwa, Annie & Janie Ochitwa and Julian & Aidan Wotherspoon. A hard worker her entire life, Baba will always be fondly remembered for her extreme generosity. She loved to cook, to garden and to fish. She was most proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “Rest in peace, Baba! - Veechnayaa Pamyaat!” Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church – 770 – 14th Street West - with Reverend Father Ivan Nahachewsky. Donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Interment will take place in the Ukrainian Catholic Section of South Hill Cemetery.
