PICTOU - Harold Murray “Stull” Haley, 87, of Pictou, passed away peacefully September 3, 2009, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Pictou, he was a son of the late John “Jack” and Myrtle (Nicholson) Haley.
An overseas war veteran, Harold served with the Calgary Highlanders, and was a member of Branch 16, Royal Canadian Legion, Pictou. A lover of old movies, he was employed with the Capitol Theatre, Pictou, and the Odeon Theatre, New Glasgow as projectionist. Stull loved his grandchildren, “grand dogs”, and all sports, especially hockey and boxing.
Surviving are his wife, the former Myrtle Christine MacLeod; sons, Robert (Nancy), and Blake (Leanne); grandchildren: Greg, Jennifer, Keegan, and Kristin, all of Pictou.
The last surviving member of his immediate family he was predeceased by his brother, Neil; and sisters: Mildred “Tiny” Firth MacMaster, Margaret Vines, and Marlene Haley.
Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Monday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place 3 p.m. Tuesday in McLaren Funeral Home Chapel, Pictou, with Rev. Iona MacLean and Rev. Joanne Vines officiating. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery.
No flowers by request. Donations in his memory may be made to the Pictou County SPCA, or a charity of your choice.
