It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of Delaine Arlet Tkachuk on September 3, 2009. Del was born in Canwood, SK on October 25, 1930 and married the love of her life John Tkachuk on March 13, 1948. Most of their married life was spent living in Saskatchewan. Del focused her attention raising her 3 children and the adoption of her 4th child, Jamie her chosen son in 1968. Then in 1972 she began her extensive career in the human services field until 1995 when she retired. She had a talent and passion for turning a house into a show home, filling it with love, antiques and collectables. Del was a beautiful, classy, extraordinary woman, always humble, never forgetting where she came from. She found it very rewarding to mentor others in need. Her lifetime commitment was to her family, Alanon, AA and the Minto Church family. She will always remain a great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, wife, and very special friend to many. Del was predeceased by her eldest daughter Barbara Glen. She is survived by her loving and caring husband of 61 years John; and their children David Tkachuk, Bev (Brent) Skoreyko and Jamie (Cheryl) Tkachuk; grandchildren: Delaine (Barry) Chamberlain, Jason Glen, Jeffery Glen (Debra), Allanna (Brad) Sukenik, Brent (Sara) Tkachuk, Christina (Dusty) Johnson, Dalton and Kennedy Tkachuk; great-grandchildren: Brindly, Brady, Logan, Jacob, Maria, Kolton, Carson, Joshua, and Daycie; as well as her sister, Iola Last-Harper. The Celebration of Del’s life will be held at Minto United Church, 1036 – 7th Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 1:00 pm. Reverend John Carley and Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. For those so wishing, memorials may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association 917 Albert St., Regina, S4R 2P6.
