James Oswald Hornby
At the P.E.I. Atlantic Baptist Nursing Home, Charlottetown, on Thursday, June 9, 2011, with family at his side, of James Oswald Hornby of Charlottetown, age 95 years.
Predeceased by his parents, John and May Camilla (Hornsby) Hornby, and siblings Kathleen, Helen, Edward, Eleanor, Marguerite, Camilla and Ena.
Veteran of the Second World War, he flew Wellington bombers in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Squadron 407, and after the war flew commercially with Maritime Central Airways and Eastern Provincial Airways.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 64 years, Jean (MacPhee); and children Jim, Brian (Laura Lee), Susan and Jeff; grandchildren Jessie Hornby, Devin Hornby, Sarah Hornby, Keith Baglole, Sebastian Baglole, Eric Hornby, Brendan Hornby; and special friends Susan Sherwood and Harry Baglole.
Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home for visitation on Monday, June 13, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, Charlottetown, on Tuesday, June 14, at 10 a.m. with interment to follow in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown.
Charlottetown Branch #1 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a veteran’s tribute at the funeral home on Monday at 6:45 p.m.
