Levis Maillet

MAILLET, LEVIS J. - Levis J. Maillet, 92, of The Veterans’ Health Centre and formerly of MacKenzie Ave., Moncton, with loving members of his family at his side, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, June 10, 2011. Born in Notre-Dame, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Alice (Richard) Maillet. Levis was retired from CNR (freight shed) with over 35 years service and attended Notre- Dame- de- Grâce Roman Catholic Church. He was a Veteran of the Second World War, served overseas with the Canadian Army and was a member of Moncton Legion Branch #6. He was a very capable handyman, enjoyed playing the violin and was an avid hockey fan but first and foremost was the love he had for Lorena and their family. Levis will be sadly missed by his loving wife of over 66 years, Lorena (Roy) Maillet, his children, Giselle Mills (Norman) of Birch Ridge, Paul Maillet (Pauline), Athelene Cormier (Terry), Linda Humphrey (Robert), Francis Maillet (Florence), all of Moncton, Patricia Chilvers (Dave) of Edmonton, AB and Marie Arsenault (Robert) of Moncton; 15 precious grandchildren and 10 cherished great grandchildren; brother, Wilfred Maillet (Doris); sisters, Rita Poirier (Sammy) and Lina Cormier; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Monday 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Moncton Legion Branch #6 Memorial Service Monday at 4pm. Funeral Mass at Notre–Dame- de-Grâce Roman Catholic Church (854 Mountain Rd.), Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 11:00am with Rev. Yvon Cormier officiating. Reception in the church hall following the mass. Interment, Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. In Levis’ memory donations to The Dr. Georges L. Dumont Foundation or memorial of choice would be appreciated by the family.
