Laurie McKeown, 63, of Cheticamp, died June 10, 2011, at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp.
He was the only child of Peter John and Marie Jeannette (Chiasson) McKeown.
He was the proud owner of Laurie’s Motor Inn. A true businessman at heart, Laurie unknowingly helped many in his community. He enjoyed the simple things in life, most of all, a drive through the provincial park or a fishing trip to Wreck Cove. His heart was truly in his hometown of Cheticamp. He will be missed by family and friends both near and far.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Clark; one son, Kevin McKeown, Cheticamp; two stepsons, Duane (Barbara) Clark, Glace Bay, Shannon, Montreal; two daughters, Trina (Marc) Larade, Cheticamp, Shelley (Shane) O’Leary, Dartmouth; stepdaugther, Lynn Clark, Toronto; grandchildren, Pierre Poirier, Julie Poirier, Emelie Poirier, Isabelle O’Leary, Celine Larade, Mario Larade, Luke John McKeown, Jeremy Dillan Dicks, Nathan Clark and Brynn Clark.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Cheticamp Funeral Services Ltd.
