Hunter, Kathleen Viola; With heavy hearts the family of Kay Hunter announce her peaceful passing at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Saturday, June 11, 2011 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Gladys (Spencer) Weatherbee, and lived for many years on Christie Street.
For 35 years, Kay worked as head clerk in the children's department at Margolians in Amherst. She was formerly active in the Women's Auxiliary in the Amherst Fire Department. She spent most of her free summer time at her beloved Linden Beach cottage.
Kay will be sadly missed by her children, Kevin (Nicole), London, ON, Rick (Shelley Crossman) and Larry (Marlene), both of Amherst, NS and foster daughter, Bonnie (Dana Trueman) Everill, Amherst, NS; 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; siblings, Cecil, Elizabeth (Betty), Beverley and Gladys, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Ronald in 1997 and by a sister, Marilyn and brothers Carl and Jackie.
Kay's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral home, Amherst (667-8777) from where a memorial service will be held on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 11 am. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the funeral home on Monday from 10 am until the time of the service. Burial in the Amherst Cemetery.
