John Palaschak
John Andrew Palaschak , of Beaver Valley District passed away on June 6th on the family farm. He was born on Nov. 11th 1938 in the Driscoll Lake district to John and Anna Palaschak. He married Mildred Dumonceaux on Dec. 1st, 1962 . Together they worked the family farm and raised a family.
John was a hard worker, avid hunter, and important community member. He took over the family farm at a young age and expanded it into a thriving enterprise. All of his family have worked alongside him throughout the years, but it was with sons Terry and Alan that the farm continued. Work was important but so was fun. He loved hunting, fishing, dancing, curling and practical jokes. He enjoyed attending family reunions and having wiener roasts with the grandchildren. In later years, traveling and playing cards took over from the more physical hobbies.
John felt that community involvement and charity were important. He was heavily involved in the Ponteix hospital and St. Joseph Foyer boards and spent 33 years as a councillor and Reeve for the RM of Val Marie and sat on the Val Marie Rec. Board. This is just to name a few. He never turned his back on things that needed to be done or people that needed help.
John is survived by his wife, Mildred Palaschak; Children, Earl (Tracey) Palaschak, Mary Anne (Dwaine) Stovka, Alan (Natalie) Palaschak, Lynne Manchur, and Terry (Mona) Palaschak; and 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren as well as numerous in-laws and other family members.
John was predeceased by his parents John and Anna Palaschak; two siblings in infancy; his sisters Annie, Elizabeth, Helen and their spouses; Parent in-law J.B. and Annie Dumonceaux; son in-law Eugene Manchur and numerous brothers and sisters in law.
On June 12th, the memorial service was officiated by Father Raymond Carignan, Jim Harbor, Kathy Grant and Colton Palaschak provided the music. Urn bearers were Kurt Palaschak and Earl Palaschak.
