Nicholas Bonogofski
Bonogofski, Nicholas John Bonogofski, age 87, of Leader, Sk. and formerly of Lancer, passed away June 5, 2011 at the Western Senior Citizens Home, Leader, Sk. The Memorial Mass was held Thursday, June 9, 2011 from the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home with Father James Owolagba officiating. The interment service took place at the Lancer Community Cemetery, Lancer, Sk. with Father Emanuel Azike officiating. Nick was born in the Prelate area and attended school in Abbey. In his younger days and for several years, Nick was employed by the Kimber Sheep Ranch, a job he thoroughly loved and often spoke about even in his later years. Nick also spent one winter season in Northern Ontario working in the logging industry. Nick's one love was his Lancer farm. He took great care and pride to ensure that the fields were manicured to perfection! Nick loved his cars and he loved music and enjoyed playing the accordion. In earlier years Nick played a Hawaiian guitar and in the early 50's, the Bonogofski's had a family band and played as many school and barn dances in the Abbey area. Nick would play his Hawaiian guitar, brother Chris on the violin and sister Emma would sing and play the accordion. He leaves to mourn his passing, sister Anne Smith of Cabri; Tillie Filyk of Kelowna, B.C.; brothers Chris (Albina) of Summerland, B.C. and Ralph (Evelyn) of Vimy, Ab; stepchildren of his first wife Annie; Murray, Allan, Bobby Seip and Kathy Andrysk; stepchildren of his second wife Elizabeth; Jack and Barry Tuchscherer; Margaret Spies and Peggy Tumback and numerous nieces and nephews. Mick was predeceased by his parents Lena and Karl, his brother John and sisters Emma Stark and Betty Overend. He was also predeceased by his wife Annie (Seip) and stepchildren Donald, Gary, Marion, Helman and Stanley Seip, and his second wife Elizabeth Tuchscherer in 2000. Our lose of a kind and generous man is Heaven's gain. In Nick's memory, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. "Afterglow" I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to have an afterglow of smiles when day is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the way; of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun of happy memories I leave behind when the day is done." Warren's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
