It is with great sadness and deep regret that we, the family announce the passing of Mary Beck on Monday, June 13, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Pottie) Bagnell.
Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, who will be missed by all her knew her. She was the glue that kept her family together. She was an awesome cook and baker. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially her little man, Tyler.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Louise (Peter) Ronco, Phillip Beck, Judy (Jeff) Garland, Howard Beck, Cindy Beck, George (Mariette) Beck, Sharon Beck (Courtney), Dawn (John) Yanez; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers, Tom (Odile) Bagnell, Bob (Rikki) Bagnell; goddaughter, Pat Remy; many nieces and nephews; as well as her lifelong best friend, Helen (Glenmore) Neal.
Beside her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd (2005), her daughter, Heather Beck, a son in infancy, granddaughter, Sherry Ann Marks, sister, Hilda, brothers, John and Alonzo (Lonnie) Bagnell.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday, June 15) at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place 11 a.m., Thursday, June 16 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
Reception to follow. Interment to take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Donations may be made to the Cape Breton palliative care unit, regional hospital or flowers will be appreciated.
