It is with heavy hearts that the family wishes to announce that Sylvia Fern Griffiths passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 6, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 73 years. Predeceased by her parents, Neil and Beatrice McDonald; brother Bernard; sister Theresa Ramsay; husband Thomas (Bud) Griffiths and infant daughter, Cheryl. She is survived by her daughter, Starla; sons Blaine (Sandee), Steven (Marie) and grandchildren Hailey (Matt Ward), Jennifer, Ryan and Corallee all of Moose Jaw; sister-in-law Linda Hardy (Leroy) and many nieces and nephews; brothers Malcolm McDonald, Stanley McDonald; sisters Doris Westrack, Grace Robichaud. Sylvia was born in Moose Jaw on July 26, 1936. She attended King Edward Public School and Technical High School. She enjoyed working as a presser at Canaday's Apparel until her retirement in 1994 after 25 years of service. She married her husband, Bud, on April 26, 1958. She was affectionately known as 'Hubbard' by family and friends and for her kindness and compassion to many. One of her greatest joys in life was her family. Sylvia lived a full and enjoyable life and particularly enjoyed the tranquility of her back yard and her long daily walks with Dusty. She enjoyed the arts and entertainment and was an avid watcher of "The Price Is Right". She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, sister-in-law and friend. She was a very strong, courageous, kind and gentle lady with the most amazing smile. She will be deeply missed. At Sylvia's request, no funeral service will be held. Memorialization will take place at Prairie Memorial Columbarium at later time. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 62 B Ross St.W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2 or to a charity of your choice.
