It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald Joseph Terrio age 74, of Joggins announce his passing on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, NS surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Joggins, he was a son of the late Cecil and Ella (McGovern) Terrio.
Ron served in the Canadian Air Force as a Fire Fighter from 1957 until he retired in 1984. He was posted in Chatham, NB, Germany, Summerside PEI, Cold Lake AB, and Golan Heights in Egypt and various regions of the Middle East and his final posting in Shearwater NS.
During his military and retirement years, Ron excelled in and enjoyed upholstery and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife the former Joyce Harrison, one daughter Carmella (Drew) Baker of Timberlea NS, two sons Keven (Tina) of St. George NB and Vincent (Martha) of Beaverbank NS, three granddaughters Deanna, Catherine and Abby and one grandson Devan, one sister Karen Birney of Colburg ON.
Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by one sister Ethel Ryan and one brother Chester in infancy.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and the Rosary at 8 p.m. all in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June17, 2011 at 11 a.m. from St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Joggins with Father David MacDonald officiating.
Interment will take place in the Ragged Reef Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the St. Thomas Aquinas Church.
