Bernhard (Bernie) Schwartz was born on March 2, 1929, on the family farm at Dendron, SK. He married Thelma Biem on June 17, 1953. Bernie is survived by his four children, Fran (Dennis) Schroh of Swift Current, Keith (Nancy) Schwartz of Flin Flon, Dale (Pam) Schwartz of Red Deer, and Gail (Alex) Allen of Swift Current; his 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren: Travis (Mary-Anne) Schroh – Trystan, Dawson & Paytin: Craig Schroh: Chad (Michelle) Schwartz – Riley, Mackenzi & Bailey: Derek (Kristy) Schwartz – Brook & Chip: Josh Schwartz: Colton (Whitney) Schwartz – Kailyn & Ryder: Mandy (Matt) Borle – Aislin, Hunter & Gibson: Jennifer (Steve) Watterson- Alexa, Brennan & Brooklyn: and Stacy Allen; his brother, Bill (Evelyne) Schwartz; his sisters, Hilda Ingalls and Adeline Haynes; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Thelma, on July 21, 1993; his grandson, Matthew Schwartz, on November 6, 2004; his parents, John & Barbara Schwartz; and by 10 of his 13 siblings. The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 10:30 am from the Swift Current Funeral Chapel, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Alex Allan officiating. The pianist for the service was Jennifer Watterson with soloist, Stacy Allan singing, “Perfect Peace”. The eulogy was brought by Fran Schroh and tributes were shared on behalf of the grandchildren by Craig Schroh. “How Great Thou Art” and “Blessed Assurance” were sung by the congregation under the direction of Pam Schwartz. The Honorary Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Travis Schroh, Mandy Borle, Chad Schwartz, Jennifer Watterson, Matthew Schwartz (in our hearts & spirit), Derek Schwartz, Stacy Allan, Craig Schroh, Josh Schwartz and Colton Schwartz. The Interment Service was held at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Swift Current, SK, with Travis Schroh serving as urn bearer. A Luncheon followed at the Alpine Church of God. In memory of Bernie Schwartz, donations made to the Cypress Regional Hospital would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK.
