Donald Bezanson

After a brave struggle with lung cancer, Arthur Donald (Don) Bezanson, 75, Westville, passed away in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital on June 15, 2011 surrounded by his family.
Don was born on April 17, 1936 to Raymond Arthur and Clara Winnifred (MacDonald) Bezanson of Eureka, Pictou County.
On July 24, 1957, Don married Donelda Stewart of Trenton and moved to Stellarton where they raised six children: Bruce (Gordon Reddick, Riverton), Cindy (Eddie MacLean, Westville), Cathy (Ross Coady, Stellarton), Viola (Bob Nason, Westville), Karen (Donald Smith, Priestville), and Lee (Dennis Chaisson, Woodburn). Donald also had three granddaughters: Megan MacLean, Ashley Coady Deagle, and Michelle (Coady) Babineau; one great-grandson, Leeland Babineau.
Don loved his family and was extremely proud of them.
Don was the youngest of six children. He is survived by his sisters Winnie (Roy Hattie, Pictou) and Shirley (Maurice Clayton, Bedford).
Don was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Hugh; sisters, Eleanor and Jessie; and his step-mother, Margaret Bezanson.
Don started painting with his father as a young man and continued painting for customers in Pictou County for over 50 years. He was well respected by his peers and customers. He loved his family, being outdoors, watching hockey, and knowing "How That's Made".
Don's family would like to send sincere thanks to Dr. Farrell, Dr. Eunice, Dr. Straub, and especially to the Palliative Care Unit, the Palliative Care Society, and the VON. All of who made Don's journey so much more bearable.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Roy officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
Donations in memory of Don may be made to Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or the VON.
