Percy Allaby

ALLABY, PERCY D. - It is with great sadness the family of Percy Douglas Allaby of Saint John, husband of Shirley (Fleming) Allaby, announce his passing on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Upper Hibernia on December 23, 1938, he was a son of the late Edwin and Irene (Nelson) Allaby. Percy was a life long resident of the Saint John area, being employed as a longshoreman at the Port of Saint John for several years., and was a member of ILA 273. Percy was a long time member of the the RAOB and for 13 years was a member of the Beaver Lake Fishing Lodge. He was an avid fisherman and a loving husband, father, and grandfather who always enjoyed a good joke and will be missed by all. In addition to his wife, Percy is survived by two sons, Wayne Allaby (Jean) of Oromocto and Rick Allaby (Kim) of Saint John; three daughters, Natalie Fleming (Larry Jackson), Sabrina Sutton, and Joanne Sutton, all of Saint John; a brother, Greg Kennedy (Patsy) of Saint John; two sisters, Rosamund (Kennedy) Jolin of Toronto and Sandra (Allaby) Shephard (Bill) of Grand Bay-Westfield; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Percy was predeceased by a son, Douglas Allaby; a sister, Shirley Kennedy; and two brothers, Charlie and Donnie Kennedy.
Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday and Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place privately in Fernhill Cemetery.
