Jeff Kopperud
Kopperud, Jeffrey Donald Kopperud, age 46 of Hazlet, Sk and formerly of Swift Current, Sk. passed away with his family by his side, June 13, 2011 at Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, Sk. Jeff was born on April 16, 1965 in Swift Current. Jeff was raised in Swift Current with his four sisters and one brother. He attended school at St. Patrick's School, O. M. Irwin and the Swift Current Comp High School. After completing high school, Jeff worked as the manager of the Swift Current Bonanza Restaurant, later becoming their trouble shooter for the western provinces. He married Laura Bingham and they had four children. After moving to Hazlet, he was a grader operator for the R. M. of Pittville and over the past 10 years. Jeff worked in the oilfield as a tank truck driver and worked for Donaldson, Bridge Creek, Big Eagle, Lloyd Klassen and Gibson Energy. He was well known for his dedication and hard work. His organizational skills would put any secretary to shame. Everything that he did, wanted to do, or should do was documented. From quite a young age, Jeff was a very good athlete. He played and coached hockey, enjoyed a good game of golf and just loved ball. He always looked forward to the slow pitch tournaments in all the small towns. To be able to celebrate Jeff's life on Hazlet's Sports Day was very special, he would have loved it. One of Jeff's favorite activities he really looked forward to was our annual camping trip to Lac Pelletier. He'd do whatever it took to take his kids camping at the lake. Here they'd get together with aunty Roxy and aunty Susan and the cousins, Brian, Jayme, Darren, Jennifer, and Cherise. Lots of memories were made together, fishing, golfing and the special silly stories around the bon fire. Jeff was very community minded. He loved everything about Hazlet. He was a past member of the Lions Club, volunteer fire department, church board member, hockey coach and most important, a great friend and neighbor. Jeff was a very devoted father to his children. He always tried to do what was best for them and spent as much quality time as he could with them. They all loved to play sports, camp, fish, golf and play cards together. Family was always important to Jeff. He leaves us with many cherished memories. Jeff is survived by and sadly missed by his children Jessica, Samantha, Victoria and Ty; his parents Don and Lucille Kopperud; sister Roxanne Johnston; brother Greg Kopperud; sister Susan (Dwayne) Larson; sister Joanne Sletten; sister Carolyn Kopperud; nine nephews and nieces; 2 great nephew; in laws Merv and Irene Bingham, Laura Bingham, Wade Bingham, Robert Bingham and numerous aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by grandparents; Julian and Grace Kopperud; Email and Rose Thibault; brother Gary Kopperud; niece Shannon Johnston, uncles Armand Thibault, Rene Thibault and Leo Dumont. The Celebration of Life Service was held Friday June 17, 2011 at 11:00 am from the Hazlet Community Hall with Carola Anderson and Elaine Little officiating.
