It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our loving father Daniel Roger Hillier on Saturday, June 18, 2011.
Born in Newfoundland, Danny was the son of the late Francis ‘Ginger’ and Jean (Ranson) Hillier.
Danny worked in Massey Ferguson’s in Brantford, Ont. and Lingan mine. For the last several years he worked as an automotive mechanic, many of whom knew his talented trade was such a love and enjoyment in his life and how he passed his knowledge on to his two sons.
He is survived by his three children, sons, Roger (Denise), Scotchtown, Dano (Stacey), Sydney; daughter, Wendy (Donnie) Beaton, New Waterford; the mother of his three children, Linda Blewer, New Waterford; eight grandchildren, Tylor, Olivia, Kayla, Jared, Bria, Hannah, Nicholas (and as poppy would call him, Nick Quick) and Lexi. Also left to mourn are his two brothers, Robert (Patsy), Paul (Linda), both of New Waterford; sisters, Donna (Danny) Blewer, Scotchtown, Marie (Ron) Zokol, Vancouver, Judy Hillier, Texas; along with several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Besides his parents, Danny was predeceased by a sister, Clara Lorraine in infancy.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for Danny will take place Friday, June 24 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, New Waterford.
