Albert Lowe
LOWE - It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Charles "Albert" Lowe. Albert passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK at the age of 70 years. His 1 year battle with cancer is now over. Albert was born on August 14, 1940 in Swift Current, SK. He married Irma Koldingnes on September 7, 1963 at First United Church in Swift Current. Albert started working for Revelstoke in 1957 and worked there for 8 years. He then spent time working for Home Hardware before going on to a 29 year management career with Pioneer Co-op before retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters and spent time working in various capacities for the club and volunteering his time. When Albert was younger he was an athlete himself. He loved playing ball and hockey. As his sons got older he coached their sports teams, including ball and minor hockey. He enjoyed watching football, especially his Roughriders. He was a Bronco fan and season ticket holder since the inception of the local club over 40 years ago. He loved spending time and beautifying his yard. He loved flowers and was very proud of his garden and the vegetables that it produced, sharing them with family and friends. He got great enjoyment from his granddaughters. After retiring in 2003 Albert was able to golf more and liked going for coffee with his wife Irma and friends while catching up on local events. Albert is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Irma; son Rick (Wanda) Lowe and their children Kaylie and Chelsie of Swift Current, son Dale (Samantha) Lowe and their children Cassandra and Jenna of Swift Current; sister-in-law Joyce Koldingnes of Kelowna, BC, and neices Jennifer (Chris) Koldingnes and her daughter Jaden of Hawaii, and Kim (Chris) Smith and their sons Brady, Aiden and Lucas of Houston, TX. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Georgina Lowe; mother and father-in-law Kathleen and Irvin Koldingnes and brother-in-law Allen Koldingnes. A funeral service was held on Thursday, June, 16, 2011 at 3:00 pm from the First United Church in Swift Current with Reverend Bonita Chad officiating. Ushers were cousins George and Archie Lowe, pianist was Sharon Veer and eulogy was presented by Will and Cindy Lowe. The pallbearers were Ron Dyck, Gary Orsak, Bill Owens, Bill Siever, Barry Severson and Ron Karaim. The interment service took place at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Swift Current. Albert had a sense of humor and always loved a good joke as well as playing jokes on other people. He was a loving husband, father and grandpa and he will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Byker and the nursing staff at the Cypress Regional Hospital for their compassionate care in Albert's time of need.
