Catherine ANDERSON

Catherine Jessena Anderson -76, Pictou. It is with deep sadness that the family announces Catherine’s passing on June 21, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, after a courageous battle with cancer. Raised in Caribou River, she was a daughter of the late Arnold and Mary (Bickers) MacKay. Catherine is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, John D. Anderson. She is also survived by sister, Marguerite Redmond, Pictou; and brother, James (Beanie) MacKay, Caribou River; sisters-in-law, Olive Cheverie and Rose Anderson, Pictou; uncle Fred (Olga) Bickers, Ontario; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Charles and Stewart Anderson, Pete Cheverie, Donald Redmond, and one in infancy; sister-in-law, Mary Gillis; nephews, Walter Redmond and Kenny Gillis. Catherine was an employee of Stedman’s for 38 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir for many years. She also volunteered several years at the Food Bank. Catherine was a kind and wonderful person who will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation will take place 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will be held 2 p.m. Friday from First Presbyterian Church, Pictou, with Rev. Iona MacLean officiating. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery. Reception to follow in the church hall. Donations in Catherine’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the S.P.C.A.
