
George Arthur McGregor Cooke

February 8, 1926 - June 9, 2011. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Arthur McGregor Cooke on June 9, 2011 at the age of 85 years. George was born February 8, 1926 in Belleville, Ontario. Dad will be greatly missed by his daughters Barbara Albrechtsons (Eric) of St. John's, Newfoundland and Mary Jane Farrell (Brian) of Edmonton, Alberta. George will be missed by his friend Velora Piltingsrud and family. He will be remembered fondly by his sister Mary Taylor (Bill) of Guelph and their children and spouses Michael Taylor (Candice) of Port Perry, Ontario and Nancy Rudyk (Mike) of Toronto, Ontario. George was predeceased by his sons Stephen and Douglas and his parents Bertha Cooke (Goodwin) and Percy Cooke. He leaves behind five grandchildren Jacob Cooke, Kathryn Farrell, Stephanie Farrell, Daniel Albrechtsons, and Hannah Albrechtsons. George served in the Canadian Air Force before he graduated as a geological engineer from the University of Toronto in 1952. He worked for Shell Oil in Calgary for most of his career and later consulted with Intercomp Resources. Dad enjoyed being involved in the Minor Hockey Association of Calgary for many years and he loved his Calgary Flames. Many, many thanks to the staff at the Colonel Belcher Care Centre for their great care during his time with them. A memorial Service will be held at a later date.
