Rupert Brown

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rupert Thomas Brown, 82, of Amherst on June 22, 2011 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan.
Born in Lower Greenville, NS on February 10, 1929, he was a son of the late Bamford and Jessie (Ralston) Brown.
Rupert was employed with Acadian Lines for thirteen years. He later retired from Ralston Fuels as a driver salesman in 1995 after thirty years of service. He was a cancer survivor since 1992. In his spare time, Rupert found great joy in music, fishing, playing cards, camping and spending time at the old homestead in Lower Greenville. Rupert was a loving husband, father, grandfather and will be sadly missed by his wife the former, Ruth Yorke; daughter, Carolyn Thompson, Amherst and her children, Andrew (Jane) and Mitchell (Melanie); son, David (Ruth), Amherst and their children, Jordan and Emily; several nieces, nephews and sister-in-law, Lillian Brown.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Harold.
Cremation has taken place.
Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Friday, June 24, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906). Funeral service will be celebrated on Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. from Campbell’s Chapel with Rev. Raymond Fancy officiating. Reception to follow in the Knights of Columbus hall. Interment will take place in the Upper Wentworth Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, donations in Rupert’s memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Cumberland VON or the Upper Wentworth Cemetery.
