We regret to announce the passing of Clare Fielding, 94, of Dominion. Clare passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Dominion she was the daughter of the late Philip and Ellen (Campbell) Fielding.
Clare was a member of St. Eugene’s parish, Dominion. She was employed with Devco in the payroll department until she retired.
Clare passed away peacefully after suffering a massive stroke. She was a delight to all who knew her.
Clare will be sadly missed by her sister, Helen (Fielding) MacKinnon, Glace Bay; nieces, Angela (MacKinnon) Moorer, Birmingham, Alabama, Ellen (David) Thomey, Sydney, Cathy Fielding, Boston, Colleen (Fielding) Verner, Boston; and sister-in-law, Jessie Fielding, Boston. Also surviving are cherished great nieces and nephews, Mitchell Moorer, John Moorer, Wyatt Moorer, Catherine Thomey, Angela Thomey.
Besides her parents, Clare was predeceased by a sister, Mary, brothers, Bruno, Charles, Leonard and brother-in-law, John Joseph MacKinnon.
Visitation for Clare Fielding will be held Friday, June 24, 2011, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011, at St. Eugene’s parish, Dominion, with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall.
