Rogers, Ivan Laughlin, 84 of Pine Street, New Glasgow passed away June 25, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital after a long battle with cancer with his loving wife by his side.
Born in New Glasgow he was a son of the late Earl and Gertrude(McFarlane)Rogers.
Ivan was a life-long resident of New Glasgow where he was a member of Trinity United Church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Ivan was a Locomotive Engineer with the C.N.R., retiring in 1989 after more then 40 years service.
He was a member of the Euclid Masonic Lodge with more then 60 years service.
He is survived by his loving wife Marie, New Glasgow; brother-in-law Douglas Stallard, New Glasgow; sister-in-law Jean Sauntry, New Glasgow; several nephews and a niece.
He was predeceased by a brother Alan, his companion Carol Wolverton and a sister Vera Stallard.
Cremation to take place.
There will be no visitation or memorial service at the request of the deceased.
A public graveside committal service will be held 2pm Wednesday in the Brookside Cemetery, New Glasgow with Rev. Jim Webber-Cook presiding.
Donations in memory of Ivan may be made to Pictou County SPCA or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
