STANNARD, VIRGINIA DORA - 1925 - 2011 - Virginia Dora Stannard, 85, of Hillsborough passed away peacefully on June 25th, 2011 at the home of her daughter, Brenda. She was so grateful to be surrounded by her family during her last days. Virginia was born in Salem on July 6, 1925 the daughter of the late Hantford and Marion (Milton) Wilson. She worked at T.Eaton Company. She was a member of the Salem Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #32 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to play darts, cards and bingo. Virginia will be remembered for her smile and for her sweet personality, she was always there when needed. She loved her family more than anything and cherished all the time they spent together. Not only was she a very special mom, she was also a grandmother who her grandchildren could always depend on. She would light up every time they walked in the room, they were definitely her pride and joy. " Her gentle spirit and loving heart will live with us forever." She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Carol MacPhee (Ed) of Hillsborough, Brenda Douthwright (Neil) of Hillsborough; sons, Tom Stannard (Libby) of Salem and Butch Wilson (Anne) of Ontario; daughter-in-law, Linda Stannard of Salem; close friend, Della Steeves of Hillsborough and by her 12 treasured grandchildren and several great grandchildren; also by several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, James Stannard Sr. ; infant son, Paul; son, James Stannard Jr.; sister, Averta and four brothers, George, Harold, Waldo and Eugene.
Honoring Virginia's own wishes there will be no visitation and the family will be having a private Memorial Service to celebrate the life of their mother, grandmother and friend. Interment will be held in the Grey's Island Cemetery, Hillsborough. Donations to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
