Evelyn Ann Meader
Evelyn Meader was surrounded by the love of her family when she passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011, at the Prince Edward Home in Charlottetown. She was 73 years old.
She leaves behind Richard, Laura (Hans), Dolly (Ken) and grandchildren: Lauressa, Alex, Nathan, Zoe and Sebastian.
Evelyn bloomed where she was planted which was not easy with Multiple Sclerosis. She taught us to be grateful, to laugh and to focus on the positives in life. She was a strong determined woman who made a joyful impression on many. She enjoyed getting outside and appreciated nature's gifts from the call of a blue jay to the sound of waves crashing on the shore. She soaked up her "Island Paradise", and loved her friends who lived here. Her friends "from away" were also close in her heart. She believed in the power of a good laugh and a warm hug. A few corny jokes and bad puns were often in her tool kit. Evelyn was a teacher, a writer, a Brownie leader and Girl Guide Trainer. In 1989, she started a MS Self Help Group that she continued to attend for the rest of her life. A group of retired brownie leaders called "Cheeps" also kept her upbeat with their sing song get-togethers. Even in her later years when she had a hard time speaking, she generously shared her love and laughter with the sparkle in her eyes. She inspired family and friends with her humour and perseverance, and she appreciated the hardworking and caring Prince Edward Home staff who helped her live life to the fullest.
Donations can be made in Evelyn's memory to Pat and the Elephant.
