Passed away peacefully on 15 August 2009 at the age of 83 years in Rockland, Ontario. Born to Lawrence and Evelyn Moore (nee Healey) in St John’s, N.L., 8 December 1925, (the feast of the Immaculate Conception, hence the Mary). Husband to the late Emily (Minnie) nee Osmond. Father to Joanne (Curt) of Ottawa., Evelyn (Guy) of Montreal, Karyn and Jacqueline of Toronto, Bill of St. John’s Stephen, (Suzie) Texas. Grandfather of Matthew, Joshua, David, Leslie, Jeffrey, Jordan, Roy, Emily and Benjamin. Joe grew up and lived most of his 83 years in his beloved St John’s, N.L. As a young man he worked at the harbour docks and served in the Korean War. He returned home in 1953 to work as a maintenance man for both the Postal and Defence departments of the Federal government. Joe passed on to his children, and grandchildren, a love of dance and music, A shy but occasionally sociable man he enjoyed the company of animals, fishing, Dominion Ale., a good book and a good laugh. He always wanted the best for us and we always wanted the best for him. He will be missed by his children who loved him dearly.
