Mom, for over 40 years we watched you rise and transfer your MS afflicted body from bed to wheelchair. A process that would take two to three minutes for the rest of us, took 15 for you. You made the leap everyday because you believed in the reason that called you to rise. For over 40 years, we watched you sell carnations and passionately advocate for more MS research. While we dreamed that you may walk again . . . you soared as an inspiration to all of those you touched daily. Mom, thank you for this profound example of motherly love. We’ll believe in ourselves, we’ll believe in the call and we, too, will rise when called. It’s not good-bye, Mom, it’s adieu . . .until we meet again.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, Sept. 15 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. There will be a celebration of Lorraine’s legacy 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16 at Sydney River Protestant Church with Rev. Dana Feltmate residing.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of which Lorraine was a long-standing member.
