Passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, June 26th, 2011 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Corner Brook, Effie Simmonds at the age of 95. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Judy (David) Denney, Deer Lake, Adrian (Ann) Simmonds, Bay Roberts, Viola (Wilson) Alexander, Stephenville, June (Ken) Dalley, Corner Brook, Lucy (Carl) Levy, Deer Lake, Alma (Sandy) Baillie, Deer Lake, Violet (Les) Roberts, Stephenville, 37 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, 27 great-great grandchildren, sister Myrtle Purchase, BC; step-children: Sam Simmonds, Glenburnie, Louisa Lush, Deer Lake, Geraldine Rumbolt, St John’s, Garfield Simmonds, Ontario and Jack Simmonds, Bay Roberts, as well as a number of step-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She was pre-deceased by her parents: Albert and Deborah Follett, husbands: Percey Sheppard and Frank Simmonds, sisters: Evelyn Reid, Lucy Anstey, Bertha Follett, brother, Henry Follett, daughters: Mary Simmonds and Mae Snow, son Henry Sheppard, step-children: Mary Neal, Rita Halfyard and Raymond Simmonds. Friends may visit the Pentecostal Church in Birchy Head on Tuesday June 28th starting at 2 p.m. from where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday June 29th 2011 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Kirby Noseworthy and Pastor Enurchas Bursey officiating, interment to follow at the Church cemetery.
